Age and Consent Rules
- Tattoo: consent allowed (age 16+), mode: written consent.
- Piercing: consent allowed, mode: written consent.
- Intimate piercing: 18+ only.
- WA: Tattoos allowed at 16+ with written parental consent. Consent must specify tattoo type and body location.
- WA: Non-intimate piercing under 18 requires written parental consent (Children and Community Services Act 2004 §104A).
- WA: Ear piercing at 16+ does not require parental consent. Under 16 still requires consent.
- WA: Department of Health parental-consent pro-forma wording should be used where possible for paper/hybrid records.
Licensing Requirements
- WA requires premises registration and infection control certification (HLTINF005) for practitioners.
- Infection control certificate required for practitioners (Infection Control Certificate (HLTINF005)).
Sterilisation and Record-Keeping
- Sterilisation records required.
- Retention period: 12 months.
- Sterilisation records recommended. Biological indicator testing recommended but not mandated.
